Hi, welcome to the First Grade! My name is Ms. Smotherman.  I am excited about everything that is in store for this year and I hope you are too!  I am originally from New Orleans, La.  I received my Bachelors for the University of New back in 2003. I moved here to Auburn/Opelika Alabama in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina.  I married in 2006 and had three wonderful children.  My children are now 16, 14, and 7.  My husband of twelve years, unfortunately passed away in 2018, persevering, I went back to school and receive my Masters of Education from the University of Phoenix in 2020.  I interned at Auburn Early Education Center and started my first year of teaching there as well as a Second Grade Teacher.   I moved here to Loachapoka Elementary in 2021 and was a Fourth Grade Teacher for that school year.  I transitioned to First Grade the following school year and absolutely loved it.  This is my second year as a First Grade Teacher and my fourth year as a Teacher as a whole!
