Kristy Homburger

My name is Kristy Homburger. I teach Chemistry, Honors Chemistry, Dual Enrollment College Chemistry 1 and 2, Research and Design, and have a senior class advisory. I have taught for 18 years, with 13 years here in Alabama and the remaining years in Tennessee. In addition to teaching here at SSHS, I occasionally serve as an adjunct instructor for CVCC. I am also the sponsor for the Science National Honor Society. I have a bachelor's degree in Science from Austin Peay State University, with my major being Chemistry, American Chemical Society certified (ACS certified means I had to take more Chemistry classes and complete Chemistry research to earn the certification). I have a Master’s degree in Science (Organic Chemistry) from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. I am a STEM Certified Educator. I use Google Classroom to post announcements as well as my assignments. Students can also find recordings of class lectures, linked to YouTube, on Google Classroom. These lectures can be used to review or learn the material from an absence.

    • Loose-leaf notebook paper
    • Scientific Calculator (see pictures below for suggested ones)
      • The scientific calculator can be what they use in math class. They do not need a separate calculator for my class.
      • They are NOT permitted to use the calculator on their phone.
    • Pencils/Pens
    • There is a course lab fee.
