Welcome to Lee County Schools! I have been a teacher in Lee County since January 2004! I have been teaching at Beauregard Elementary School since August 2004 where I have taught students with more severe needs, primarily Autism. My heart has always been with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. It is my passion to help our students communicate, access academics,& become more independent. I hope to always help any and all of our students in every way that I can!
Currently I am beginning my third year serving as our system wide Teacher for students with Vision Impairments and our county Autism Consultant. I travel from school to school and provide instruction for our students with vision impairments. I also provide assistance to teachers and staff who work with our students with Autism. It is a great joy to me to assist others in ordering materials and providing training to teachers and staff that support the principles and strategies centered around teaching methods for Autism Spectrum Disorder.
I completed my Master's Degree in Collaborative teaching Grades K-12, with a focus in Autism & Behavior Disorders at Auburn University in 2003.
I completed my Bachelor's Degree in Human Development and Family Studies with a minor in Counseling at Auburn University in 2001.
Currently I am enrolled at the University of North Dakota pursuing a second Master's degree, specifically in the area of Vision Impairments. I am very excited to continue my education and feel we should all be life long learners.
I have been married to my husband, Flint since June 2008. We recently celebrated our 10th anniversary!
My husband and I have 3 children. Our oldest son, Ryan, just turned 18 years old this August and started his Senior year at Auburn High School. We also have a 6 year old son named Collin. Our youngest is McCarlee Myrl. She is 3 years old!
I have lived in Auburn since 1998 after transferring from Georgia. I am a bulldawg at heart, but you may catch me cheering for the Auburn Tigers as well :)
I love staying active and have a hard time sitting still! I am usually on the go! I absolutely love exercising, being outdoors, and my favorite place to be is the beach!
Prior to college, I grew up in a small town in Indiana called Crawfordsville. While in high school, I volunteered as a peer tutor with students with exceptionalities. My favorite part of the day was the one class period I got to accompany an student with Autism to his ceramics class! I have always had a love for people with Autism and enjoy helping them learn.
