Mrs. Emily Jennings

Welcome to 4th grade! I am so excited to be joining you and your student on their learning journey this year in ELA and Alabama History! (You will have the fabulous  Mrs. Harris for math and science this year!). I have a B.S. in Elementary Education and an M.Ed. as a Reading Specialist. I am constantly reading research and changing my classroom practices to enhance student engagement and learning. Technology is a growing part of my classroom, as we will acquire more "tech tools" thru the year to advance our engagement and growth to a student-led learning environment.

While I am an expert in education, I am not an expert on your child, and recognize the valuable asset that parents are to a teacher! I hope you will join me as a teammate this year to see that your 4th grader can be as successful as possible!

Please feel free to contact me any time with any questions or concerns you may have this year!

Remind Messaging is typically the quickest way to communicate and receive a response as my availability for phone calls is limited to my planning period and immediately after school.(Please note that out of respect for family time, I do not answer emails or return phone calls after leaving school, but will promptly respond as soon as I return to school the next morning.) Parents are given Remind access codes and instructions at the beginning of the year. If you need the instructions on how to join Remind to get class updates and access teacher messaging, please contact me.

2019-2020 Lunch time 11:25-11:55 CST

Snacks Optional: Students are allowed to bring a healthy snack (no candy, chips, poptarts, honey buns, etc.) during independant work stations. There will not be a break in the schedule, however students are allowed to multitask eating a snack in conjunction with their independent ELA workstation time. Water only please (because sugary spills require mopping).

Healthy Snack Suggestions: crackers, beef jerkey, cheese stick, fruit cup, apple sauce, yogurt, clementine, banana, carrot sticks, grapes, rice cakes, gogurt, granola bar, pretzels, celery sticks, apple slices, raisins, dried fruit, fruit chews, blueberries, cherrios, pre-popped popcorn
