South Smiths Station Elementary School
My name is TC Phillips. I am proud to be the Principal of South Smiths Station Elementary School. I began my career teaching 1st grade in LaGrange, Georgia. After teaching for 20 years in every grade level from kindergarten to 5th grade, I decided to go into administration. I served as an Assistant Principal for 3 years in Georgia before moving to Alabama. I taught in Auburn, Alabama at Ogletree Elementary School for three years before becoming the Assistant Principal at South Smiths Station Elementary. In July, 2021 I was promoted to Principal. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the students, families, and staff at South last year and am looking forward to continuing those relationships this year. I realize the importance of a good education, and I believe in motivating and inspiring others to never stop learning. I feel very fortunate to have been selected to serve in this role and I will always strive to create a school climate that is safe, warm, and inviting. I hope to build a partnership with parents so that together we can see the students at South grow intellectually and emotionally. Our theme this year is ‘South Will Move Mountains.’ I pray that we can meet that challenge with effort, perseverance, and a determination to keep pushing forward, just like climbing a mountain.
