Mrs. Stefanie Webber

About me

I was born and raised in Beulah, Alabama. I have a son who attends Smiths Station High School and a daughter who attends Smiths Station Jr. High. I also have two little Yorkies that we absolutely adore! I love to read, love spending time outdoors with my children, and LOVE Auburn football! I am one of the Beta Club sponsors for our school and the current head coach for the Smiths Station Jr. High School Pantherettes. I love to learn, and it gives me great joy to share this passion with others. I look forward to collaborating with other teachers to ensure that my students have the most productive learning environment possible. During my career I hope to positively influence the lives of our youth, and be most remembered for believing in and encouraging every student that enters my classroom.

Teaching Philosophy

I believe an engaging learning environment is one of the most important requirements for effective teaching. Students should feel comfortable, both physically and psychologically, in an environment that nurtures learning. Education should not only provide knowledge, it should assure that students know how to use that knowledge effectively. Students should be guided to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills that can benefit all aspects of their lives. The curriculum can emphasize these objectives across all subjects. Ongoing, informal classroom assessments can provide educators with more input on student character, capabilities, and challenges than can be acquired by formal testing, and are an essential component of successful teaching. Educators should be flexible and accommodating in their teaching styles, within resource limitations and the constraints imposed by the variety of competencies, attention spans, and behaviors that comprise a single classroom of children. A successful teacher realizes she is in a dynamic setting, where teaching the same subject matter must not become mundane. She must have the ability to assure available resources are appropriately adjusted to provide an optimum learning environment.
