My name is Jon McGowan, and I am beginning my 9th year at South Smiths Station Elementary School. This will be my third year as the Behavior Support Interventionist at South!  I am excited to work in this area, and help to recognize the positive behaviors we have going on at this special place! I have previously taught 3rd grade, 4th grade, and special education at East Smiths Station Elementary. I have also spent time at Smiths Station High School and at Sanford Middle School in Beauregard. I am proud to say that I have spent my entire career in education with the Lee County School System! I thoroughly enjoy the teachers, administrators, and students that I interact with on a daily basis.

I live in Auburn with my wife Meredith and our kids.  Our oldest daughter is Clara, and she is 27 years old. She lives and works in Nashville, Tennessee with her husband, Jason. Our next daughter is Harper. She is in graduate school at East Tennessee State University, working on her Occupational Therapy degree. She is also getting married in December! Next is Eva (who we call E.V.). She is a first-year student at The University of Tennessee/Chattanooga. She will be running cross country and track for them! Finally, our only boy, Charlie, is in 11th grade at Auburn High School in Auburn. He is a sports nut and loves all sports, especially anything to do with Auburn University Athletics. Charlie is the sports director for Auburn High School Mass Media. We are all Auburn Tiger fans! We are all blessed to be a part of a great church family and are truly excited to see what God has planned for us every day!

 I truly enjoy working with the kids here at South. It is awesome to watch them learn and grow throughout their time here with us.
