Ms. Susan Thompson
My name is Susan Thompson and I teach the 12th Government/Economics classes here at Beauregard High School. My first year at Beauregard was the 2019-2020 academic year, however, I have taught for a total of 32 years.
I graduated from Phil Campbell High School in 1982. I attended the local community college before earning my B.S. degree from Auburn University in 1987. I taught two years in Georgia, before returning to my hometown. I eventually acquired a job at a small rural school in Franklin County, where I spent 28 years. While there, I also earned a MA in Social Science/Secondary Education. I decided it was time for a change, so I took this job last year. Obviously retirement is something I can do, but have not decided yet on the when, but for now it is great to be a BHS Hornet!!
The Lord has blessed me with two wonderful children. My daughter is now 22 and my son is 20 and both still live with me. My daughter and I are both diabetics and she also has Celiac disease. My son was diagnosed with ADHD at 7, but managed it and was able to graduate at the top of his class. I say all of these just to say that we understand how difficult life can be at times. All of these things have also helped me to be a better teacher and communicator with my students.
It is an honor and a privilege to be given the responsibility, not only educating your students about my subject areas, but also helping them to transition from being a high school student to being an adult, and we all know how tough that can be.
