Josh Riles

Welcome! I am currently in my 8th year as an educator. I taught 3 years in 5th grade at PCES, 2 years of 6th grade at South, and 2 years of PE at South, and now I'm transitioning back to teaching 6th-grade math.

I graduated from Smiths Station in 2003 and call this community my home. It feels great to teach in the same school I attended as a child. I graduated from Columbus State University with my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in 2017. I graduated with honors from CSU and received multiple scholarships and awards for being a leader in the education department. Most notably, I received the Most Outstanding Elementary Teacher Candidate Award when I graduated.  I have also received the Rookie Teacher of the Year Award during my first year teaching at PCES, the Teacher of the Year Award during my 3rd year teaching at PCES, and the 2022 SES and Lee County Teacher of the Year awards in my 5th year of teaching. I will finish my M. Ed in December 2024 and expect to start my specialist degree soon after.

I have 3 children who also attend Smiths Station Schools. My oldest daughter is in 9th grade, my son is in 6th grade, and my youngest daughter is in 1st grade.

I am entering my fifth year as the Head Coach for Women's JV Soccer.

I love having the opportunity to build relationships, mentor, and raise students in our community. I care for each student as if they were my own, and I am fulfilling my calling in life.
