Degrees and Certifications:

Miss Ashley Johnson

I am thrilled to be a part of East Smith Station Elementary. In 2010 I received my Associates degree in Early Childhood Education followed by my Bachelors degree in 2012 in Child Development. Next, I completed my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential along with my Masters degree in Elementary Education with a specialization in Best Practices. I started my career teaching preschool and kindergarten then I taught middle school for four years. This is my third year teaching fifth grade and I am thrilled! Fifth grade is an exciting transitional year for students. As we prepare to tackle more advanced concepts, we will also focus on fine tuning essential skills as well as learning new ones that will build a foundation to prepare students for middle school.

I grew up on the West Coast with my parents, twin sister, and older sister. I am a proud auntie to three nieces and one nephew who all range in age from five to fourteen years old. I recently moved to Alabama and am excited to build my life here with my Golden Retriever puppy (Callie), seven year old Husky (Zeus), and my fiance, Ian.  We are excited to get married this October and to also welcome our baby girl in December. I am a firm believer in "everything happens for a reason" and believe that every single student in my classroom has been placed there for a purpose and a reason. I am proud to be a teacher and look forward to learning and growing with my students this year!
