Dear Parents,

         Welcome to East Smiths Station Elementary School! Hello, my name is Ms. Marla Clark and I will be your child’s Third Grade Teacher. I would like to begin by telling you a little about myself. I was born and raised in Phenix City. I am also a graduate of the Phenix City School System. I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Troy University. This is my seventeenth year of teaching. This will be my third year at Lee County Schools.

         The first few weeks of school will be used to review the academic areas. As the school year progresses, the work will become more challenging. I will expect your child to do the best of his/her ability. I am asking for your help to make this a successful goal.

         To help ensure that we are successful in the classroom, we will be learning self-discipline and learning to take responsibility for our actions.

With your assistance, we will be able to have a safe learning environment. I will always encourage your child to do their best. I would like for students to ask as many questions as needed to ensure they understand the subject area. In the Third Grade, we encourage independence and responsibility. However, it is not wrong to ask questions to help them understand any material that is taught.
