Who We Are:
The Student Support Services Department (SSSD) is an integral part of Lee County Schools and our mission is to provide support and assistance in the areas of enrollment, attendance, and social services concerns and needs to students, parents, the community, and school district staff. Our department provides comprehensive programs and services to promote the academic and social potential of all students within a context that honors each student's cultural, linguistic and intellectual diversity. SSSD professionals are student advocates who work in partnership with other educators, parents/guardians and community organizations to support the academic and social needs of all students throughout their educational careers. This teamwork supports each student by acknowledging and helping to eliminate barriers to academic achievement. We believe that every student – regardless of where they are from or what situations they may find themselves in – deserves an opportunity to reach their fullest potential and be the very best they can be. With that goal in mind, our department supports academics by providing a variety of services for our students and their families, which may include attendance and discipline issues, providing intervention for students who are deemed at-risk, etc.
SSSD professionals provide the necessary resources and support to assist schools in increasing student access to instruction, especially those experiencing barriers to success in areas such as attendance, achievement, behavior, physical health, mental health and basic needs. By promoting wellness for the whole child, this department contributes to the district's vision that promotes a passion for student learning; supports teachers, parents, and the community; and produces engaged and lifelong learners.
