I am the girl's physical education teacher, head girls' basketball coach, and assistant volleyball coach here at Beauregard High School. I earned my bachelor's in physical education from The University of Alabama at Birmingham and my master's degree in physical education from The University of West Alabama. I am joining Beauregard High School from the Opelika City school system, where I was the physical education teacher at Morris Avenue Intermediate and assistant girls' basketball coach at Opelika High School (2023-2024). Prior to moving to Opelika, I taught middle school physical education and was the head varsity basketball coach at Atlanta Girls School in Atlanta, GA (2021-2023). I have also taught physical education and coached boys' basketball in Houston, TX (South Houston High School; 2020-2021), Mobile, AL (UMS Wright; 2016-2020), and Hueytown, AL (Hueytown Middle School; 2015-2016). I am married to my wife, Dr. Emma Lathan-Powell and enjoy playing disc golf and pickleball in my free time.
