Degrees and Certifications:
Hey Friends! I'm Mrs. Ligon and I am starting my 23rd year of teaching only Kindergarten!
I am a home town girl, I attended Smiths Station from 1st grade until I graduated high school. Once graduated, I attended Columbus College (now Columbus State) where I received my Bachelors Degreee in Early Childhood Education. I then attended Troy University where I received my Masters degree in Educational Leadership.
I am married to Jeff Ligon whom is a firefighter/EMT and we currently parent 3 teenagers! We are very busy supporting them in school and their activities and enjoy every minute! I also love my fur babies! I am the mother of 5 dogs and 2 cats!
I enjoy the excitement and challenges that each day brings when walking into my K class everyday. I love my students like my own kids, therefore I will treat them like my own. I will show them caring and compassion while expecting their best in all they do and hold them accounatable. I worry greatly about our society today, it seems that no one wants to accept ownership of their actions and I believe with parents and myself working together, we have to start early with setting goals/expectations/routines and following through with them for our children to become good citizens. Yes, it is hard work, but well worth it as we help develop these little humans into being the best person they can be!
I am looking forward to an awesome year! I promise to give my best each day to your child, in return, I expect parents to give their best each day and together we will encourage and expect your child, my student to do the same! It starts at home with you talking to your child, checking their folder daily to see what is going on in their school life, limiting tv/computer/device time and making sure they have proper rest. Also, encourage them daily to make good choices and hold them accountable for the choices they make. When you do this, it helps your child thrive when they come to school so I can focus on their academics and help develop the best little human he/she can be.
Looking forward to working with a great group of kids and their parents!
