Mrs. Deborah Murry
Hello, my name is Deborah B. Murry. I have been the library media specialist here at LES for 10 years. However, I have been in the business of educating children over 22 years and I truly love it! Before becoming a librarian, I taught grades 2 and 3 in the Macon County Public School system. What is so cool to me is that I am teaching some of my former student's children.
I was born and raised in Tuskegee, Ala. I attended Hampton Institute (now University), Faulkner University and Alabama State University. I have a B.S. in Business Administration/Marketing, received a M.Ed in Early Childhood and another M.Ed in School Library Media. I am married to Rev. Victor Murry, we are the parents of Victor II, Maya, and Tequila. We live in Waverly, Ala. I love cooking, traveling, being with my family and everything about country living. We are members of Greater Saint Mark Missionary Baptist Church, Tuskegee, Alabama.
As a librarian, I believe that reading is one of the most important ingredients to becoming all that you can be. Reading develops the brain, provides a window into the world around you and helps a student do better in all school subjects. Most importantly, I try to instill in all the students that "reading can not only help you become a better student , but a better person."
My favorite quote comes from the book "I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!" written by Dr. Seuss it reads... "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you'll go."
