Mrs. Lynn Bailey

"Mathematics is the language with which God has written the universe." ~ Galileo Galilei

I was born in Virginia, and grew up in rural Botetourt County, north of Roanoke, Virginia. I have wanted to be a teacher since I read about Helen Keller, her beloved teacher, Anne Sullivan, and Booker T. Washington when I was in fifth grade with Mrs. Georgia Rucker Meadows. The lives of those four people inspire and remind me that each of us can persevere to overcome life's obstacles and achieve a fulfilling life through service to others.

Mr. Bailey and I have three children. Matthew is a graduate of Auburn University in Poultry Science/Microbiology and of Purdue University in Indiana, where he earned a PhD in Food Safety. He, his wife Lauren (another Auburn graduate), and our four-year-old grandson, Samuel, currently reside in Athens, Georgia. Our son Jacob, a graduate of Huntingdon College and an avid soccer player, is currently pursing a Master's Degree in Physical Education from The University of West Alabama. Our daughter, Rachel, is a junior at Auburn University, majoring in Communication Disorders.

We have two Boxers, Brutus and Lola, and an adopted stray cat that followed my mother home from the bridge in my hometown - her name is Bridgette.

I have been a teacher with the Virginia school systems of Giles County and Lynchburg City. I also taught in Dade County, Florida. Additionally, I served as an adjunct instructor for Southern Union State Community College and Chattahoochee Valley Community College. I have been a teacher in Lee County Schools for fourteen years. Prior to teaching seventh-grade Mathematics at Sanford Middle School, I taught at Wacoochee Junior High School.

Our family moved to Opelika from Virginia, twenty years ago when Mr. Bailey, now retired, became the EAMC Director of Health Plus Fitness Center.
