Hello,
My purpose in life is to work with teenagers in some capacity. For 14.5 years, it looked like teaching science to eighth grade students at Sanford Middle School or 8th grade students at Austin Junior High School in Decatur, Alabama. From October 2019-May 2023, it looked like teaching high school science at Smiths Station High School. Now, it looks like serving as Assistant Principal at Smiths Station Junior High School. I love this job and I love serving the teachers, students, and parents of SSJHS.
I am the mother of two sons, ages 17 and 18, who hung the moon, in my opinion. I hold three degrees from Auburn University; a Bachelor's of Science in Zoology/Pre-Veterinary Medicine, a Master's in Biology Education, and a Master's in Instructional Leadership. I am a licensed foster parent for the state of Alabama and have served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for Lee County foster youth.
When time and money allow, I have a passion for traveling. I bake and cook, and it makes me happy to clean and organize. I love to take photos, read, listen to audiobooks, drive with the windows down and the music turned up, and spend time with my people.
Please don't hesitate to reach out to me if you or your child needs my assistance in any way.
A. Long
