I’m Coach Dewayne Welch, and I’m currently in my 17th year of teaching and coaching. I began my career at George Washington Carver Elementary, and from there, I moved on to Notasulga High School, where I had the opportunity to teach and coach Girl's Basketball and Football. My journey continued at Booker T. Washington High in Tuskegee, AL, where I taught and coached football and track for a year. I then returned to my alma mater, Sanford Middle & Beauregard, to teach Physical Education and coach junior high girls' and boys' basketball and football. After three years at the middle school level, I transitioned to SSHS, where I currently teach Health and coach Girls' and Boys' Varsity Basketball, Football, and Track. Seeking new challenges, I pursued a position in Driver's Education and as the Head Varsity Girls Basketball coach, which allowed me to further expand my coaching experience. I hold a Bachelor’s degree from Alabama A&M University and a Master’s degree in Sport and Fitness Management from Troy University. On the personal side, I’m happily married to my wonderful wife, Taryn, who is also an educator at Loachapoka. We’ve been together for 8 years and have two children, Tyson and Tatum.
