My name is Wesley Byrd, and I am a lifelong resident of Smiths Station in my 13th year of education. I graduated from Smiths Station High School in 1989, where I was a member of the National Honor Society, as well as playing football, basketball, and baseball for the Panthers. I was fortunate to continue my athletic and academic career at Lurleen B. Wallace Community College in Andalusia, AL, where I received an Associate of Science degree. I continued my collegiate career by graduating from The University of Alabama in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. After graduating, I spent 16 years working for The Coca-Cola Company before changing careers into Education. I began my secondary education career in August 2012, teaching 8th Grade Physical Science at Smiths Station Junior High School. I continued to teach at SSJHS and spent 10 years teaching Computer Science and running the PNN program at SSJHS. Currently, I am teaching Earth and Space Science at SSHS. After Coach Ferry retired as the Head Baseball Coach in the Spring of 2024, I was extremely blessed to be named the Head Baseball Coach for the Smiths Station Panthers baseball program after many years of being an assistant coach for him at many different levels in the baseball program. I have been married to my wonderful wife Jennifer for 28 years, and we have 3 wonderful sons named Jacob (26), Tyler (24), and Brock (21).
