Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Rachel Goodson
7th Grade English
I have been married to my husband, Justin, since 2008. We have a daughter, Lily, who was born in 2013, and a son, Luke, who was born in 2018. I attended Smiths Station schools my whole life, and I graduted in 2000. I was fortunate to be a student at the University of Alabama (ROLL TIDE) from 2000 to 2006 where I earned two degrees: a bachelor of arts in English Literature, and a master of arts in Secondary Education Language Arts. In 2014 I earned my educational specialist degree from Columbus State University.
I taught in Phenix City Schools for nine years, and I transferred to Smiths Junior High in 2015. While in Phenix City I served as department and team leader, tennis coach, teacher mentor, awards day coordinator, STEM planning committee member, and various other leadership roles. Here at SSJH, I've been able to focus on my classroom curriculum and instruction. I love teaching, and I am blessed to have a job where I can seek to push students to be their personal best. In my free time, I also enjoy playing tennis, attending and serving at my church, shopping, spending time with my family, and taking trips to the beach.
