    Good Afternoon Everyone:
We are in need of volunteers to assist with parking Friday. As of the moment, we only have a few individuals who have committed to helping with parking.
Please call or text Jason Oates at 334-580-0617 and let him know you will help. It really takes a minimum of 10 people, but 12 is better.

  • Travel Information for Trip to Talladega for Football Game

Posted by John Hillsman on 9/1/2021

As I am sure you are aware by now, the band will travel to Talladega High School for this week’s football game. This decision was confirmed late Monday.

Please read the announcement below in its entirety.

Due to Covid-19 concerns, we are taking some additional precautions. Some of these measures are purely precautionary while others are in keeping with mandated Lee County Board of Education Policies. Our band has basically been crippled for the past two weeks dealing with Covid-19 positives, exposures, and quarantines. With the precautions listed below in place, we should be able to curtail future problems.

Departure Time: We will leave Beauregard High School at 2:30 on Friday.

Return Time: We should arrive at the high school between 12:30 and 12:45 AM. Notifications will be sent via Remind.

Health and Indemnification Form: Please be sure that your child's Health and Indemnification Form has been turned in and notarized. Ms. George will notarize them.

    1. In keeping with mandated Lee County Board of Education Policy, all students and other passengers riding on a school bus must wear a face mask PROPERLY. Properly in this instance means with the mask covering the mouth and nose. At no point while riding the bus may the mask be removed or worn in an improper manner. This policy applies to all passengers riding on a bus.
    1. Current Lee County Board of Education guidance for Covid-19 excludes anyone who is properly wearing a mask or who is vaccinated from being required to quarantine due to a Covid-19 exposure. This guidance therefore bolsters the need for students to wear their masks in the appropriate manner.
    1. Should we experience difficulties with students following the mask mandate on the bus, band travel for the remainder of the football season may be suspended. Following the rules will be crucial to ensuring that the band will continue to have the privilege of traveling this fall.
    1. Rather than stopping at a restaurant and risking additional exposure, we will carry food from Chic-Fil-A and feed the students. Each student is to turn in $5.00 to cover a portion of the meal costs. The $5.00 should be turned in by the end of rehearsal on Thursday. Snacks will be provided for the students upon our departure for home following the football game.
    1. Notifications will be sent out to parents upon our departure from Talladega and twenty minutes prior to our arrival at BgHS in REMIND. If you are not a member of the Remind group, please join the group. Text: @bhsbandboo to 81010. (You must include the @ sign.)

Let’s make this trip safe in every respect! Go Band!!!

         Football game at Talladega

    • Absentees due to Covid-19 exposures/positives and quarantines are remaining an issue for us. Again, this week, we will have a number of students remaining absent due to these situations. Please make every effort to limit your exposure opportunities. This need for limitation is primarily the reason for the cancellation of the Monday rehearsal. As well, with the absentees, we are limited to reviewing more so than moving forward. It is crucial that we get everyone well and those that are quarantined back. If we wear masks or if a student is fully vaccinated, according to the policies mandated by the Lee County Board of Education, we do not have to quarantine; however, if there are situations either inside or outside of school where masks are not worn per the policy and/or students are not vaccinated, quarantines will be required. Please do your part to stay well while limiting potential exposures.
    • All Health and Indemnification Forms need to be turned in not later than Wednesday. If you are quarantined, turn them in immediately upon your return.
    • Please turn in band fees if you have not paid them. Again, if you need considerations to pay them in installments, etc., please see Mr. Hillsman or Ms. George.
    • Thank you to all of the parents and others that assisted with parking this past Friday night. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.

  • Rehearsal Cancellation - Thursday, August 26, 2021

Posted by John Hillsman on 8/26/2021

Due to Covid-19 positives and exposure concerns, after school band rehearsal for Thursday, August 26 is being cancelled.

We are reaching a critical point with positives and quarantines. At this point, it will literally be impossible for us to perform our show as we have set it tomorrow evening. As a result, we will simply adapt a field set, march onto the field, and play the music and perform routines.

Tomorrow, we will begin rehearsing on the field during class. It will probably take us until approximately 4:00 to accomplish all that we need to accomplish in order to perform tomorrow evening. We will provide dinner for the band members. Otherwise, we will still be on the same scheduling of reporting at 5:00, in uniforms, by 5:30, and then moving to the stadium at the appropriate time.

Tomorrow, all band members will need to wear a mask in the stands when we are not playing.

I am respectfully asking that all band members go home this afternoon and that they do not socialize in close proximity to other students and band members. Parents, I am asking you to please help with this matter.

I respectfully ask that each of you do your part to help us navigate the Covid-19 issues we are facing both safely and successfully. We are going to experience issues for at least the next two weeks. However, using some common sense and the protocols in place, hopefully we will emerge from this situation and be as back to normal as possible soon.

  • Band O Rama Performance Cancelled

Posted by John Hillsman on 8/23/2021

All of the Lee County School System Bands have cancelled their performances at Band O Rama, which was scheduled for this Thursday, August 56, 2021 at Opelika High School. It was collectively decided that it would not be in the best interests of our bands to risk the amount of exposure that would occur especially considering the number of positive students and quarientines we each have. Should the event be postponed, we will re-evaluate out performance status at that time.

  • Parent/Volunteer Background Checks

Posted by John Hillsman on 8/23/2021

Per the policy of the Lee County Board of Education, all parents and/or other volunteers must complete a background check to work in the vicinity of students.

Any parents/volunteers assisting with such matters as uniforms, chaperoning, serving students, etc. must complete a background check. If you are working parking only, this background check does not apply. However, you are strongly encouraged to complete the background check.

Please open the following link and review the contents of the Volunteer Packet. There are forms in this packet that will need to be signed and turned into Mr. Hillsman. As we, you will need to submit a copy of your Driver's License.

    Volenteer Packet Link: Packet Link

You will also need to complete the background check through BIB. The link to the application on their website is below:

  • Announcements/Rehearsals/Performances: Week of August 23

Posted by John Hillsman on 8/23/2021

Thank You: First, I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to all who assisted with parking this past Friday at the Beauregard vs. Valley Football Game. It was the best night that we have had since I have been at Beauregard. Again, thank you very much. Please know that we will again need parent volunteers for this week.

Parking This Week: We will again need at least 12 parents to volunteer to assist with parking this week. Again, this project is the bread and butter with regard to funding our band program. WE NEED EVERY PARENT TO PARTICIPATE!!! You are given a pass into the game. You are always in by halftime to watch the band's performance.

Parking/Drop-off Concerns: Parents dropping off or bringing something to their children for home football games will need to drop them off or meet them in front of the FX Building. Please turn into the upper/north parking lot and go around the flag pole dropping them off near the gate. Because we park the visiting teams in the bus loop, it is crucial that we limit traffic in the bus loop area. Our band members that drive park in the front lot. Please do not attempt to drive back to the band room on the days in which we have home football games. Please also note, that Mr. Wiggins is a band parent volunteer who mans the entry gate. He only follows the directions that he is given. He is only to allow those with blue parking passes or those with handicap tags/hang tags into the area along with the visiting bands, cheerleaders, and football teams.

Band Fees: If you have not yet paid your child's band fees, please do so as soon as possible. They are $150.00 this year as in the past. If you need special considerations, please contact Mr. Hillsman.

Black Socks: All band members wear black socks with their band uniforms. Please make sure that your child has black socks that go up the ankle (not footies). Students not having the appropriate socks has become an issue. Please attend to this matter.

    Rhearsals This Week:

    Monday: 3:15 - 5:30

    Tuesday: 3:15 - 5:30

    Thursday: 3:15 - 5:30

    Performances This Week:

Thursday: Band O Rama at Opelika High School - CANCELLED (All Lee County School System Bands have cancelled due to rising Covid-19 Cases in each of our programs.)

Friday: Home Football Game vs Booker T. Washington - All students report to the band room by 5:00 and should be completely dressed by 5:30. (Students are allowed to stay after school.)
